Back to School Block Party

The Back to School Block Party was established in 2001 by Life Harvester Church (LHC), who saw a need for low-income families regarding preparing for the upcoming school year.  LHC wanted to show the love and compassion of God through giving back to the community by providing children with the basic essentials to begin the school year positively.  Restore CDC took over this venture in 2008 and it is currently the largest outreach program under Restore.  There were over 900 people from across NWA who participated in the Block Party festivities that year.  To date over 4,500 children and teens have received school supplies and benefited from this program before heading back to school.  The Block Party gives the families that participate in this annual event a much needed break on their finances.

The Block Party is located on S. Government Street.  The street is blocked off and turned into a miniature carnival atmosphere.  The families participate in games, rides, food, and other entertainment before receiving the following supplies free of charge:

 ●  Back packs with school supplies
 ●  Kindergarten physicals from local medical professionals
 ●  Haircuts
 ●  Bags of groceries (as donations allow)
 ●  Laptops (as donations allow)

The Block Party is primarily funded through private and local business donations as well as community volunteers assisting with monitoring the activities.  If you are interested in sponsoring or volunteering for this event, please contact Dana Posey, Program Coordinator, at
